WRO 2011 Winners - Philippine Robotics Team grabbed 4th and 5th place

World Robotic Olympiad (WRO) excitement and pressure has finally ended and Philippine Robotics team bagged the 4th place and 5th place for the open category held in Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates last November 18-20 2011.

WRO 2011 theme for this year open category team was "Robots for Life improvement". World Robot Olympiad was first held in 2004 in Singapore, the robotics competition uses the Lego Mindstorms manufactured by LEGO Education. It has 2 categories, the regular and the open theme and age groups from Elementary, Junior and Senior categories.


Philippine Robotics Team

Robotics team of the Bulacan DYCI (Dr. Yanga's Colleges Inc.),  Alexandra Mae Guevarra, Claire Receli ReÅ„osa and Chelsea Andrea Morales won the Best Technical Award and 4th place for their MAGIS Robot - a 5 foot tall robot which stands for "Man's all Around Global Interactive Solutions".

A team of young girls build MAGIS a man's best friend. It is design to help man in his everyday life. Previously, Robotics DYCI Team was ninth place in WRO 2009 in South Korea and champion in open category for Junior held in SMX Convention Center in Pasay in our country which hosted WRO 2010. DYCI has advanced education system in the field of science and technology.

International School of Manila won next to DYCI, the 5th place in the same category and Philippine Science High School in Bicol grabbed the 5th place for Robot Soccer. Philippine Robotics team was attended by 60 delegations and 33 countries participated in the robotics competition. This is the first time WRO was held outside Asia's continent.
