| Robredo's Piper Seneca Fuselage Wreckage Crashed Site Where His Body is Found |
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse Robredo's body was finally found 8am of August 21, 2012 after 3 days of search and rescue operations of Philippine Coast Guard. The body was retrieved by technical divers in the fuselage wreckage of Piper Seneca RP-C4431 at 180 feet depth and 800 meters along Masbate Airport shore.

Piper Seneca RP-C4431 by Aviatour Air is a twin engine light aircraft which was also a Piper PA-34-200 Seneca I. The crashed killed 3 of the 4 passengers which was travelling from Cebu to Naga on August 18, 2012 and caused by unverified engine failure. Crashed site is believe to be 500 meters from the runway of Masbate Airport at Brgy. Ibingay at around 4:30pm where Abrazado was found - the lone survivor.
There are a lot of questions in my mind, the aircraft is twin engine - if one fails the other engine can run the aircraft aloft in the air or enough to make an emergency landing. To easily understand or give us an idea about the aircraft, let's see a little specs of Piper Seneca RP-C4431.

Piper PA-34-200 Seneca I/RP-C4431 Plane Specs
The Seneca I uses counter-rotating engines which eliminates the critical engine limitations and make the aircraft more controllable in the event of failure of other engine. The "L" in the designation of right engine means it is the counter-rotating engine.
Drawbacks of counter-rotating engines includes added gearbox or different engine configuration to reverse sense the rotation of one propeller. Also, additional maintenance and cost for spare parts are needed to maintain this type of engine.

As the wreckage of Piper Seneca is on going recovery, I hope an investigation should be done to reveal the true cause of crash and engine failure.
