Avast! FREE Antivirus gets ADVANCED+ award on AV Comparative Test October 2012

The test includes detection's of sample variants and False positive/alarm test. Avast! FREE detected 98.6% while Kaspersky anti-virus at higher 99.2%. They have 0.6% detection rates difference which accounts for 1445 malicious sample variants.

False alarm test (lower is better) evaluates the quality of file detection capabilities of anti-virus software and results for Avast! FREE is 11 and 5 for Kaspersky which is much lower. Overall results included both Avast! FREE Antivirus 7.0.1466 and Kaspersky Antivirus 13.0.1.4190 on the Advanced+ rating of AV-Comparatives in terms of detection and false positives.
