Huawei Ascend Y201 vs Y200 Price and Specs Comparison - Which is Better?

Latest Huawei Ascend Y201 Pro running on Ice Cream Sandwich, 800 MHz processor, 512 MB RAM, sports a 3.2 MP camera and 3G capable

Huawei Ascend Y200 was launch last June 2012 in the Philippines, an entry level Android phone competing in the price range of P5,000 (vs. LG L3, Lenovo A60+, Samsung Galaxy Y, Alcatel OT Glory X, Nokia ASHA 311, MyPhone A858 DUO and Cherry Mobile W900)

Ascend Y200 features 3.5" IPS touchscreen, running on 800 MHz Qualcomm processor on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, a 3.2 MP camera, 3G capable and with fast boot and fast charge capability.

Latest announcement for Huawei Ascend Y201 Pro release brings anticipation to every parts of the world including the Philippines.

Last few days, Huawei PH Facebook Fanpage teaser picture show an Ascend Y200 with caption "Coming Your Way Soon". Is this the latest Ascend Y201 Pro?

Is waiting worthy for this smartphone rather than buying the Ascend Y200 or other competing brands (MyPhone A848i and Cherry Mobile FLARE)?

Let's compare Ascend Y201 and Y200 Android Phones. Which do you think is better between the two?

Huawei Ascend Y201 vs Y200 Price and Full Specs Comparison

There is no official released date and price of Huawei Ascend Y201 in our country, so price below are my assumptions based on the specs and competitors on the market.

Huawei Ascend Y200 running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 800 MHz Qualcomm processor on 3.5" IPS Touchscreen with 3.2 MP camera and 3G capable. It also features fast boot for 5 seconds and fast charge for 90 min. for only P5,450.

Price: Ascend Y201 Pro cost P5,990 which is more expensive than Y200 at P5,490. Price of Y201 in other country are estimated at $134 or around P5,490. Is it possible that Y200 will be set to lower price range of P5,000 on the release of Y201?

CPU: Same 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7225A processor

GPU: Both have integrated Adreno 200

OS: Ascend Y201 Pro is running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich while Y200 on older version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS

RAM: 512 MB (Y201 Pro), 256 MB (Y200)

Screen: Both are 3.5" Touchscreen. Ascend Y201 is TFT LCD while Y200 is IPS LCD with better viewing angle and brighter screen.

Resolution: Both are 320x480 pixels

Camera: Both sports a 3.2 MP single rear camera

Internal Memory: 4 GB (Y201),  512 MB (Y200)

Connectivity: Both are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro-USB, 3G capable

Battery: Y201 is rated 1400 mAh which is higher/same than Y200 at 1250 mAh or 1400 mAh (in Europe).

In summary, Ascend Y201 runs at latest Android ICS which is design for dual-core processor and 1 GB RAM. Does 800 MHz, 512 MB and 1400 mAh resources enough to power Ice Cream Sandwich Y201 in your hand?

ICS is better than Gingerbread and who will think twice to buy it as entry level smartphone at affordable price? Even me is tempted to buy this one rather than predecessor Y200.

Similarly, Sony Tipo runs on ICS with 800 MHz Qualcomm processor, 512 MB RAM and 1500 mAh costing P7,450, more expensive than Y201.

But remember, dual-core entry level Android phones are emerging in the Philippine market and competition is very tight in terms of specs and affordability.

One example is Cherry Mobile FLARE running on Android ICS and 1 GHz dual core Qualcomm processor at P3,999 only - the cheapest dual-core Android phone in the Philippines to date.

So I suggest, make a research first and think before buying.
