| ASTRA is cheapest dual-core Android phone of StarMobile same with MyPhone A848i |
StarMobile ASTRA is already on the market and selling at P6,990 with free 8 GB memory card and screen protector while MyPhone A848i DUO is coming very soon in the market for P5,990 (Christmas Promo Price cut from P7,499 until December 30, 2012).
So, why I have to compare them?
Both ASTRA and A848i DUO are the cheapest dual-core Android phones from StarMobile and MyPhone respectively aside from competitor Cherry Mobile FLARE (P3,999) and TITAN (P6,499).
Inside both of them are MT6577 dual-core processor from MediaTek which boosts up to 40% application and browser performance thus, fast internet and multimedia experience compared to single-core platform.
Also, both are Android ICS so expect a fast and smooth user Interface (UI).
StarMobile ASTRA vs MyPhone A848i DUO Price, Features and Full Specs Comparison
Price: MyPhone A848i cost much cheaper P5,990 compared to StarMobile ASTRA P6,990 during the promo. At SRP, A848i is more or less P500 more expensive than ASTRA.
Features: Both are Dual SIM, Dual Standby, with FM Radio, GPS, TV out ( A848i), Mobile TV (ASTRA).
CPU: The same 1 GHz dual-core MT6577 MediaTek processor
GPU: Integrated PowerVR SGX531
OS: Both running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
Screen: ASTRA sports a 4.3" display while A848i 4.0" screen. Both are IPS Capacitive Touchscreen.
Resolution: The same 800x480 pixels
Pixel per inch: A848i ppi is equal to 233 compared to 217 ppi for ASTRA.
Camera: Both have dual camera, autofocus with rear LED flash and VGA front. 8 MP rear for ASTRA while 5 MP for A848i DUO.
RAM: Both 512 MB
Sensors: Motion and Proximity Sensor.
Internal memory: Both 4 GB
Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro-USB and 3G capable
Battery: A848i is rated at 1600 mAh compared to 1500 mAh for ASTRA.
My hands on with ASTRA for a minute and testing for UI responsiveness is very fast. It has also a solid build and slim design and very tempting to buy.
Having ASTRA and A848i is a good choice for consumers looking for entry level dual-core Android phones. Both are affordable, with fast performance and you will never go wrong for having one of them.

Hi, huwag kayo magtiwala sa starmobile astra. last January 2013, first week, bumili ako ng unit sa ADI, L/F ng SM cubao, nirecommend ng OIC ng store. maganda daw, etc. within 1 week nagkaroon ng dead pixel. pinalitan ng new unit, then before mag 1 month nag automatic shotdown, every 10 minutes and so often. ibinalik ko ng last week ng February, until now wala pang action ang starmobile company, kahit nagtatrabaho pa yung anak ng taga starmobile sa ADI…. buisit sila…. napakabagal umaksyon at ewan kung papalitan pa nila….. nasayang yung PhP 6,900.00 ko….. Kahapon, March 15, bumalik ako sa store…. wala pa daw balita…..
May warranty naman ang StarMobile units. Follow up mo lang po if gaano katagal i repair at availability ng parts kung may papalitan.
Walang perpektong proseso para gawin ang mga phones ng pare parehas. Kahit Apple at Samsung nasisira din kia binbigyan tau ng 1 yr warranty.
