Worldwide tablet shipment are forecast to increase 69.8% this 2013 compared to last year 116 million units according to Gartner Research.
Lower prices, form factor, variety, cloud update and consumer addiction to apps are key drivers in the tablet market. Emerging markets who are looking for companion to their mobile phone will increasingly choose a tablet rather than a PC as their first computing device.
In the Philippines, dual core and quad core powered tablets are selling for as low as P3,999 or $99. Competition are also very tight with local mobile brands with different varieties and features such mobile TV and SIM or call/text capability.
