After affordable dual core and quad core Android smartphones storm the market for 2013, the first true Octa core powered Android phones will soon hit the Philippine market this January 2014.
THL T100 Monkey King II is powered by MediaTek MT6592 - world's first heterogeneous computing SoC (System on Chip) with scalable 8 core processing for superior multi-tasking, multimedia and perfect balance of performance and power consumption.
MT6592 uses Heterogeneous Computing (HC) architecture, distributing the workloads to different kind of processors and other specialized computing engines to optimized performance. These Heterogeneous Computing building blocks includes CPU, GPU, DSP, display engines, camera engines, multiple connectivity engines, multiple multimedia engines, navigation and sensor cores.
MT6592 is also the first to use the power efficient ARM Cortex-A7 processor in an Octa core configuration with the ARM Mali GPU and upcoming Gameloft Modern Combat 5 will be optimized with this MT6592 Octa core chip.
In addition to THL T100, StarMobile already unveiled DIAMOND X1 phablet powered by Octa core processor.
I hope other local mobile brands like MyPhone, Cherry Mobile, SKK Mobile, Arc Mobile, Cloudfone, Torque, DTC Mobile, BS Mobile will also released an Octa core powered Android smartphone sooner, let's wait for that.
