Who Invented GPU?
Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) was invented by NVIDIA in 1999. They are the first to release a graphics card that combine both 2D and 3D processing in one chip which is the GeForce 256 in August 31, 1999. This is the first fully Direct3D 7 compliant 3D accelerator.
Today, NVIDIA company holds more than 2,300 patents worldwide covering ideas essential to modern computing from mobile to supercomputers that is used by Visual Effects Engineers to Science frontiers of space.
