MediaTek unveiled MT6630, world's first 5-in-1 combo wireless connectivity sytem-on-a-chip (SoC) for smartphones and tablets.
It eliminates external Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs), integrates WiFi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Power Amplifiers (PAs), Bluetooth PA and Transmit/Receive (T/R) switch into a PCBA footprint less than 65 mm2 that will reduced component count and improve design at manufacturer end.
The small footprint design is available in 5 x 5mm WLCSP (Wafer Level Chip Scale Package) or 7 x 7mm QFN (Quad Flat No-Leads) and requires only 44 components which is half compared to other integrated wireless solutions.
MT6630 Key Features
1. Dual Band single stream 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with 20/40/80 MHz channel bandwidth
2. 802.11v time of flight protocol support and management engines
3. Advanced support for WiFi Direct Services and Miracast optimization
4. Bluetooth 4.1 with Classic, Hi-Speed, Low-energy support and ANT+
5. Concurrent tri-band reception of GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and QZSS
6. FM with RDS/RBDS
7. Integrated engines and algorithms for full concurrent operations and co-existence, including LTE transmission.
MT6630 will complement the recently announced MT6595 Octa Core with LTE and expected to be commercially available at second half of 2014.
Will MyPhone, StarMobile and Cherry Mobile integrate MT6630 for their octa-core Android phone line up for Pinoy consumers this 2014?
