More Young Pinay are Working Abroad - OFW INFOGRAPHICS 2011

There are estimated 2.2 Million Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from April - September 2011, an increase of 10% going to abroad and 10.7% increase on remittances. Same period estimate for 2010 is 2 Million OFWs. The total remittances for 2011 is 156.3 Billion pesos compared to 141.2 Billion pesos in 2010.

Here is the distribution of OFWs in terms of Age, Gender, Place of Origin, Occupation and Countries they are working.

Majority of OFWs Female are in the 15-39 years of age.
1. Majority of Pinoy working abroad are Male group ranging from 45 years old and above (23%) and those ranging from 25 - 34 years of age (42%) while most female workers range from 15- 34 years old (comprise of 63%) which are younger compared to male OFWs.

2. Majority of Filipino Overseas Workers came from CALABARZON (16.5%), Central Luzon (14.3%) and NCR (12.5%).

3.  Major occupation abroad involves majority of Unskilled workers, Service Workers, Trade Workers and Machine Operators. There is a decrease of Trade Workers and Machine operators compared to 2010 statistics.

4. Most of OFWs works in Saudi Arabia (22.6%), United Arab Emirates(UAE) (14.6%) followed by Europe (8.6%). In Asia, there are more Pinoy working in Singapore and Hongkong.


With increasing younger Pinay working abroad year by year, will they dominate and take over the future of our economy in the coming years?
