DOST School DENGUE Monitoring Alert System - Now Online

CALAMBA City Dengue Monitoring Alert System shows Looc Elementary School at RED tag mark which means IEC campaign on Dengue prevention and control should be intensified.

It's rainy season and threat of dengue outbreak are increased and interactive monitoring website is created by DOST, DILG, DOH and DepEd to allow users to check the density of Dengue carrying mosquito -Aedes Aegypti in particular schools (Elementary and High School) by region and city.

The dengue monitoring site tags each school with WHITE or RED tag mark which stands for "No Warning" and "Alert" respectively. When you click the tag mark, information with regards to the City, School, Ovitrap Index and action to be taken will pop up.

Ovitrap Index are determined by Ovicidal/Larvicidal (OL Trap) installed in various schools. It is computed by getting the number of OL traps positive for eggs and larvae for every 100 ovilarvicidal traps installed on the site.


DENGUE Monitoring Alert System - What is meant by "WHITE and RED" Tag mark?

Ovitrap Index with 20 or higher are marked with red tag with corresponding action taken, below are examples.

Tag mark: WHITE
Ovitrap Index = 18.65
Action to be Taken: Continue IEC (Information, Education, Communication) campaign on prevention and control. Continue clean up activities and continue monthly entomological survey by local health authorities.

Tag mark: RED
Ovitrap Index = 34.88
Action to be Taken: Intensify IEC campaign on prevention and control. Mobilize residents of affected barangay and start clean-up campaign with the help of Dengue Brigade. Continue monthly entomological survey by local health authorities. Improve environmental sanitation and start community vigilance.
